In valeurs refuge, Natacha Donzé turns the max goelitz gallery into a landscape of charged surfaces and sacred residues. Her paintings hover in an ambivalent zone, balancing intimacy and abstraction, emotion and immaculate surface.

The atmosphere is luminous and synthetic, lingering like a digital afterimage—an image not seen but remembered, filtered through devotion, consumption, and ancient symbols of love and decay.

At the center stands Not built, but born (2025): two skulls facing each other like silent lovers. The encounter suggests both portal and relic, origin and remains. Rendered in gold and acid yellow, the work evokes fertility and corrosion, circuitry and relic, a fragile luminosity that feels less designed than conjured. From this pulse, the cycle of the exhibition unfolds.

In the series Attrition surfaces (2025), facades begin to breathe and sweat. They shimmer like corporate towers at dusk but scar like exhausted bodies. Surfaces here feel consumed rather than constructed, as if fire itself had touched them, leaving traces of destruction and renewal. The paintings hold the afterimage of labor and longing, suggesting that every structure carries the inevitability of collapse and reconstruction.

This cyclical rhythm intensifies in Spinalscraper (2025), where a serpentine skeleton devours itself endlessly. At once fossil, market curve, and digestive system, the image embodies metabolism: collapse feeding renewal, exhaustion turning into persistence. The body without flesh becomes a structure without end, dissolving boundaries between organic matter and architectural form.

The dissolution continues in Metabolism (2025), where glowing snakes stretch across pale surfaces with an almost sacred resonance. Here, survival replaces menace, continuity replaces rupture. Bodies and technologies, matter and schemata, intertwine in quiet persistence. In Death needs no proof, it consumes it all (2025), Donzé returns to the threshold of the intangible. The work gestures toward what can never be fully designed: a form that is alive, fragile, and already vanishing.

Valeurs refuge unfolds as a cycle—love and death, capital and desire, buildings and bodies, memory and technology. What persists is the equilibrium between what is human-made and what is inherently human, each collapsing into the other, leaving only glowing residues.
